9Cr3Mo Alloy Steel Forging Tube size up to 1600mm

9Cr3Mo Alloy steel forged tube is a very popular spare part  for steel plant work roll , 

it will choose excellent alloy steel raw material and be forged .


Its chemical specification :

C:0.85-0.95% ,   Si:0.25-0.45%  , Mn:0.20-0.35% 

Cr:2.5-3.5% ,      Mo:0.20-0.40% , Ni :max0.25%


As a high-performance cold-rolled industrial roll steel, the core element ratio of 9Cr3Mo is as follows:

Carbon (C): 0.85%~0.95%, providing basic hardness and wear resistance.

Chromium (Cr): 2.50%~3.50%, enhances hardenability, corrosion resistance, and high temperature stability.

Molybdenum (Mo): 0.20%~0.40%, improves thermal strength and resistance to tempering softening. ??

Other elements:

Silicon (Si) 0.25%~0.45%, manganese (Mn) 0.20%~0.35%, assisting deoxidation and strengthening the matrix. ??

Nickel (Ni) ≤ 0.25%, improves low-temperature toughness (non essential addition). ??

Some variants (such as 9Cr3MoV) contain 0.15% to 0.30% vanadium (V), refining grain size and improving wear resistance. ??

The synergistic effect of chromium and molybdenum: chromium forms carbides to improve hardenability, while molybdenum delays tempering softening. The combination of the two makes steel suitable for high-strength rolling environments. ??

Carbide stability: High carbon content and carbides formed with chromium/molybdenum can maintain high temperature hardness, which is a key characteristic of cold rolling mill steel. ??

The mechanical properties of 9Cr3Mo mainly include high hardness, wear resistance, and good tensile strength. Its hardness range varies depending on the heat treatment process and application scenario, usually between HRC54-68. The specific analysis is as follows:

Hardness

After heat treatment, the surface hardness can reach HRC65-68 (such as high-precision rolling rolls used for battery electrode rolling, which have undergone cryogenic treatment and chrome plating treatment).

The overall hardness range after conventional heat treatment is HRC54-60 (suitable for wear-resistant scenarios such as rolling mills and round steel).

There may be differences in internal and surface hardness (e.g. roller internal hardness HRC60-62, higher surface hardness).

Application scenarios and performance characteristics

As a rolling material, it has both wear resistance and tensile strength, making it suitable for high-precision rolling (such as battery electrode rolling, with roller surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.4 μ m).

In the field of mechanical components such as bearings and springs, round steel or bar forms provide the basic tensile strength and toughness.
